Carbon blocks come in various grades; standard, Micropore and Super Micropore. They are made from calcined anthracite processed under high temperature.

The product is graded as per its thermal properties, microporosity and permeability. The various grades of carbon blocks are typically used for the inner refractory vessel lining of furnaces.

Carbon blocks are also specifically used in the aluminum smelting industry as sidewall blocks and cathode blocks for the furnaces.
